🌱Korowai 🌱
.
All the hard work, sweat and tears paid off in this moment, when I handed my eldest his first korowai made with love by his māmā. .
I’d like to thank our teacher Whaea Rae for allowing us to be a part of this journey and sharing this taonga with us.
.
I was honoured to share this experience with my eldest sister Antoinette. My sister lovingly named her korowai ‘Peeki’ (Peggy) after our maternal grandmother and gifted it to our mother Peggy to present to my sister’s future baby. Very fitting because Antoinette’s middle name is also Peggy. When Antoinette shared this with me, it was without doubt that my korowai being gifted to my son be named after our pāpā ‘Te Kerei’. In duality, tāne & wāhine energy alongside each other, our korowai was given purpose with love and respect to those before us.
.
Once my korowai was named, I could feel the mana of tāne present. It was a beautiful feeling as it came to life right in front of me.
